Imagine this: you have just gotten home from a long day at school. You had two tests, an in-class essay, and no study hall. You also had a tough track workout at track practice and are feeling both physically and mentally exhausted. You shower and then hop into bed with your fluffy blankets and pillows. You fall into a deep sleep, but during the night you suddenly awake. You are covered in sweat and can feel the heavy, hot air blowing on your face. This fiasco is the ultimate worst scenario for sleeping. You uncomfortably get up to turn down the thermostat and turn on your fan. As you feel the cold air brush over your skin, you finally feel happy and comfortable. The coldness of your room allows you to fall back into a deep sleep. Has that ever happened to you? Well, it has happened to me many times. I have come to the conclusion that being cold while sleeping makes for a far better sleep than being hot.
The first reason being cold while sleeping is better is because the coldness allows you to be cozy without being uncomfortable. Who likes sleeping with only one blanket? Not me! I prefer three blankets and four pillows to allow for maximum coziness. The best feeling is feeling a bit chilly before bed, then getting into your warm bed with your blankets and pillows and feeling like you’re sleeping on a cloud. If you were already feeling warm before you got into bed, you would heat up way too quickly, and then feel all sweaty and uncomfortable.
The second reason being cold is better is because, according one source, sleeping in a colder environment helps reduce fatigue because it allows you to enter deep cycles of REM sleep throughout the night. You will then wake up feeling well-rested and prepared for the day ahead. Also, side note, when you sleep your internal body temperature naturally drops. So if you’re already cold, it makes falling asleep much easier, and it will make you much more rested.
The third reason that being cold is better is because nobody likes sweating! Sweating is extremely uncomfortable and makes everyone feel gross and smelly. Who wants to feel like that when sleeping? Personally, when I am sleeping I want to feel like I am a princess having my beauty rest. I don’t want to be tossing and turning in my sweaty sheets. If you’re cold, you can cozy up, not worry about sweating, and sleep like a pretty princess the entire night!!
I really hope these reasons convince you that sleeping in the cold is better. Because if not, this writing is for nothing. I am just trying to make your lives better, so please take my advice into consideration! THANKS!!!!
